Pittsburgh Brewing Company Is Bringing Iron City Back To Pittsburgh!

I was hyped when I first saw this news. One of the most iconic brands in the city of Pittsburgh is bringing their operation back home. Not that it ever really went that far away. Business decisions were made and things were shifted around as needed over the last 11+ years, but I am glad that PBC is coming back to the city. I have been a HUGE Iron City guy for as long as I have been allowed to drink, and it is great to see that they are ready to invest in a gigantic piece of property over in Creighton.

In case you aren't Instagram savvy and you didn't get all of the information from the post above, the plan is to to renovate the historic PPG Creighton Plant into a state-of-the-art brewery by 2022. They also have plans to build a restaurant, beer museum, outdoor event area and marina on the property in the years ahead. That sounds like an impressive complex to me!

In addition to the new facility in Creighton, they also have exciting plans for their historic Lawrenceville site as well. That facility is still home to their corporate offices, and they will be restoring that area highlighting many of the architectural features of the building - there's also a plan to open a taproom there!

Above all else, this move will give full control back to Pittsburgh Brewing Company. That means the chance to oversee the production of their iconic brands, and the ability to experiment and grow as things move forward. I can already picture "Iron City Seltzer" and IC Light Lemonade sitting in stores (hey guys give me credit if you do this...)

While the finished project is still many years away, I am excited for all the great folks at PBC and I can't wait to see the final result!
