Carson Wentz's MVP-Caliber Season Cut Short With Knee Injury

Philadelphia Eagles fans got confirmation of their worst fears, when the team announced quarterback Carson Wentz will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL. Wentz injured his knee after he was hit while trying to score a touchdown in the 3rd quarter. He made it to the end-zone, but the play was called back due to a holding call. Wentz stayed in to finish the drive, throwing a fourth down touchdown pass to Alshon Jeffery.

Wentz, in just his second year in the NFL, has passed for 3,296 yards and leads the NFL with 33 touchdown passes. He was considered one of the front-runners for MVP, leading the Eagles to 11-2 record and the NFC East title.

Now, the Eagles Super Bowl hopes rests on the shoulders of Nick Foles. Foles was able to lead the Eagles back from a fourth quarter deficit for their 11th victory on Sunday, which was enough to clinch the NFC East.
