A new poll looked at what the rules are in 2024 when it comes to movie theater etiquette.ย Here are the Top 10 things you should never do at a movie . . .
1.ย FaceTiming someone during the movie.ย Only 4% think it's okay.
2.ย Leaving trash behind when you leave.
3.ย Taking a phone call.
4.ย Revealing a plot point out loud before it happens.ย 6% think that's fine?
5.ย Putting your feet up on the seat in front of you.
6.ย Bringing your dog, unless it's a service animal.
7.ย Eating or drinking loudly.
8.ย Talking at full volume during the movie.ย 11%, or one in nine people, think it's okay.ย (???)
9.ย Taking photos, or recording video.
10.ย Yelling at a stranger because THEY did something rude.ย 17% say it's okay to do.
At the other end of the spectrum:ย 92% say it's okay to get up and use the bathroom during a movie . . . 86% are fine with people applauding at the end . . . and 80% say it's okay to leave before the movie ends if you don't like it.
Things we're more split on:ย Saving seats, 58% say it's okay . . . texting, 36% . . . making out with someone, 32% . . . and taking your shoes off, 24%.
Last stat:ย Most Americans now think it's okay to sneak your own food in.ย 56% say it's acceptable . . . 27% say no way . . . and 17% aren't sure.ย
