(Pittsburgh, PA) -- Allegheny County residents this year are again being encouraged to recycle their Christmas trees. Trees that have been stripped of lights, decorations, tinsel and stands can be dropped off at any of the nine county parks between 8 a.m. and dusk between the dates of December 26th and January 14th.Location details can be found at alleghenycounty-dot-us-slash-parks.Nearly 3-thousand trees were recycled in the program last year with the resulting mulch being used throughout the park system.

(Pittsburgh, PA) -- Pittsburgh officials are encouraging residents to recycle their live Christmas trees again this year. The city will be opening free tree drop-off's between December 26th and January 26th. The trees will be chipped into mulch that will then be offered to the community for free in the spring. The drop-off sites include the Pittsburgh Zoo and several Department of Public Works buildings. Search Pittsburgh-P-A-dot-gov for a complete list.

• Seneca Landfill Compost Site – 421 Hartmann Rd., Evans City, 724-625-9000 – Trees will be accepted during normal landfill operating hours through Jan. 31 for a $ fee.

• Penn Township – Drop off trees from Dec. 26 until Jan. 13 at the leaf collection site behind the fire department. Call Penn Township at 724-586-1165 for more information.

• Slippery Rock Community Park, 320 N. Main St., Slippery Rock – Free drop off through Jan. 15. The collection site is at the opposite end of the parking lot from the park office near the tree line. Call the park office as 724-794-8180 for more information.
