After game 2 of the Pens/Caps series everything seemed wonderful. Like "ain't no stoppin us from doin anything" wonderful. That all changed about 3 minutes into game 3 when Sidney Crosby got his face smashed in by former teammate Matt Niskanen, with some gracious help from Alexander Ovechkin. The whole dynamic changed, and after a furious comeback late in game 2, the Pens ultimately fell in OT.
After game 2, Rob found himself at the center of attention at capitals coach Barry Trotz's post game presser. After an exchange in which he asked whether the hit on Sid was a "hockey play", Trotz moved around the question by calling on hits by Pens winger Chris Kunitz. Ultimately, Rob's post game column generated a lot of response and backlash from Capitals fans.
Luckily for me, I was able to have him call in to the studio so we can break everything down before game 4. Hockey talk? Country talk? It's all in there.
