She's back! Carrie Underwood will open SNF with a new recording of “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” when the LA Rams host the Dallas Cowboys on September 13th. This is the music that you hear when you are gearing up to bet on the late football game to try and make up for all your gambling losses from earlier.....I mean when you are excited to watch a nice friendly game of football. The production of this year's video will look a little different than what we have seen in previous years since everything was shot from home because of social distancing guidelines. This will be Carrie's 8th consecutive year kicking off the broadcast, and I am happy that they are sticking with the "Waiting all Day For Sunday Night" song.
If you recall - From 2013 to 2015, Carrie opened SNF with “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night,” which is based on Joan Jett’s “I Hate Myself for Loving You.” In 2019, Carrie recorded a new rendition of “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” that featured Joan Jett. The re-tooled song replaced “Game On,” which was featured during the 2018 season. Carrie opened SNF with “Oh, Sunday Night” during the 2016 and 2017 seasons, which was based on her 2014 duet with Miranda Lambert, “Somethin’ Bad.” “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night,” which was performed by Pink, was the original opening for SNF in 2006. Faith Hill replaced Pink from 2007 to 2012 and since then Carrie has headlined the show.
As of now, the Steelers aren't scheduled to appear on Sunday Night Football until week 14 when they take on the Buffalo Bills. That is obviously subject to change as the NFL normally elects to flex games into the Sunday night spot as the season goes on, especially if it's a marquee matchup. I expect that the Steelers will end up on SNF a few times before the end of the season. I'm just hoping that everything goes as planned and we can enjoy a full year on the field - safely of course!
